I can say with assurance no marks like that were done by the Germans. Are there any other proofs or markings on the FP?

It was probably a wrong question to ask, I would expect all long barrels were steel construction. My bad.

It may have gone through an armorers servicing. That could explain the replaced grips and the trigger guard changes. Since it's so early the wooden grips could have been damaged and replaced with the later version. Is it steel or aluminum? I'd be happy with that example since the long barrels are so...
