A friend of mine has a type 10 that has a thick barrel and is 28mm not 35mm. Tokyo No 610.
Who has information on this odd calibre for a type10? Photo a bit blurred but best available. Any info is welcome. Must be rare?

The side view. Why can I not post two photos at once? instead of a second post photo.

28mm is the common flare used by the T-90 double and triple barrel flare pistols, also the type 97. It is certainly possible that one or more was made in 28mm instead of 35mm. The photo however shows no markings on the barrel and chamber, barrel seems thicker than normal which is a good sign, however, photo is also not sharp enough to see if the original barrel was relined or replaced. A good clear photo of any markings ( assembly number ), and the chamber, showing the breech walls should indicate if original or not. A closeup of the muzzle would also help.

I am still looking for ANY information regarding the European Use of the Original Costons flares from 1859 through 1881. Photo's, Patents, contracts & orders, ANY INFORMATION IS NEEDED ! !

I am waiting for clearer photos. He says the barrel is not sleeved.

I have new information about this thick barrel Type 10 pistol. It has been sleeved to take British 1" flares and has 1 inch stamped on the barrel.
Was this done professionally for re-use by some country or just altered by some collector/shooter ? All comments welcome.
I thought it was 28mm in the first posting but now I have correct description.

It was most likely captured and them privately relined. British law or common sense, most likely would result in the new caliber to be stamped on the gun. If it was reworked and reissued by the military, it most likely would have British military proofs of some kind like a broad arrow.
