Is this a No 4?

I need information about this flare gun. I think it is Brittish for airplanes

and not American. The only text I can find is on the grip CAL 40. Is it a No4?

Wow tank you. I thought that only the Brittish and US used 1½ inch. USA used only 2 flareguns M2 and AN-M8 for their airplanes during WW2.
