American flare gun Columbia Mod. 3

Post by SSG »

Hello,

I lately bought a Columbia Mod. 3, Kal.1,5".

My questions:
- does Mod. 1 and 2 exist, perhaps Mod 4 and so on ?
- how many Mod. 3 were manufactured and from what year
untill..., can one tell me, what year mine could be?

Thank you very much for answers, my answer could take some days...

Could you post photos of yours ?

I do not know of a model 1 or 2, but never did any research on the company. My guess is that in development a model 1 and 2 prototype were manufactured, or at least designed on paper.

As far as I know this is a WWII design, as all the examples I have seen have the "pt" Military property mark. It is possible that commercial or overruns could exist.

I am still looking for ANY information regarding the European Use of the Original Costons flares from 1859 through 1881. Photo's, Patents, contracts & orders, ANY INFORMATION IS NEEDED ! !

Hello,

perhaps can somebody tell me, what year of manufact. this gun is, the Serialnumber is written above the first picture.
Is this gun made out of brass, or is it some kind of brass/copper mixture ( so called "redbrass") ?

Thanks in advance!

Nice weekend!

barrel is steel, receiver and frame are brass. Then it was finished, barrel a different finish than the frame and receiver.

I know of none that are dated, but they are certainly WWII.
