(starting a new one rather than thread-jacking Signalman's)
This H&R 37mm has no visible proofs, which I suppose makes sense since it is S/N 3157 and thus after the British contract block.
Also missing is the "M1900" from the address line.
It's not in the greatest of shape with some thinning blue but no pitting (and sound stock), and mechanically excellent.
Fortunately for me a Labor Day auction so didn't get the attention it probably deserved.
Note the rubber buttplate and the "3" stamped into the stock - some sort of unit or rack number I believe.
The only references I could find for these out on the interwebs is for the British-proofed examples.
How unusual is a "civilian" version?
Any estimates on production numbers?
