British Webley & Scott Mk1V Pistol

Post by ron3350 »

This pistol is in my friends collection. It is stamped Mk1V but looks like a No4 Mk1* without the usual 4 bayonet lugs on the barrel.
I thought there was no Mk1V ? model in 1 1/2" calibre. Comments are welcome. Ron.

Do you have this pistol in your collection or have any details of manufacture of W&S Mk1V pistol?

Hello Ron,

I am sure I had at least one in my collection. Not sure if I still have one or if it sold. Major renovations at my house, and most of the remainder of my collection is in storage boxes. I will look however. Similar to the MkIV if I remember is a Model "M" which I may still have - or sold, again, I will search for it.
Guns have only two enemies, rust and politicians.

I am still looking for ANY information regarding the European Use of the Original Costons flares from 1859 through 1881. Photo's, Patents, contracts & orders, ANY INFORMATION IS NEEDED ! !

Found it. Serial number C1427. Mine is only marked MkIV once, at the top rear of barrel.

Otherwise mine is marked identical to yours including the proofs. Mine has about 97% original finish.

My model "M" must have been sold, or is stored away in one of two hundred tubs in my garage.

My photo is from a friend. It has the Mark 1V only on the top catch while the other photos show it on the side.
So there are a few variations. I have no information on this model except this forum. Ron.
