Wolseley. 1917/1918

This survey continues on. As far as Wolseley is concerned the highest serial number I have observed with a 1917 date on the frame is 12156. The lowest serial number with 1918 on the frame that I have seen is 14439.
Does anyone have a Wolseley Mk111* that falls between these two serial numbers? This would help establish the number made before the 1918 marking.

Regards

Hi Alan,

If your survey is still ongoing:
I just bought a 1916 short barrel W.W.Greener No1Mk3, Serial no. 136.

Best regards,

Correction: this example is from 1915 (not 1916)

Thanks Peter

Yes the survey is certainly still going, if not a little slowly at times.

136 is the lowest number I have seen for a 1915 example.

Just posted on the Gunboards Forum, a Chubb serial number 1034, dated 1916.

This is the highest serial number observed so far and puts pay to the theory that the second contract may have been a duplicate of the first contract for 500 pistols, from the Ministry of Munitions
