British Very Long barrel

Post by Hebel94 »

This is a Very with a long barrel. There is no marking but a "0" on the frame. I understand that the same model was produced for Turkey. Would anyone have more information about this model?

More than 20 years ago I had one very similar to yours.
I recall that I also thought it may be from Turkey. I was
never able confirm it's origin.

Good luck.

Thank you for your message. I know that the very same model exists with Turkish markings but this is the only information that I have on this model.

From where did you get the idea that it is of British production? I see no proofmarks at all.
I recall seeing a similar gun in Turkey (a shop in Yesilkoy, just south of Istanbul). Would it not be of local production?
Or maybe even German, considering the arms connection between Turkey and Germany (though that would probably also means proofmarks. German ones, that is).

I have no indication that it is British production. It is however very similar to the British Very I have with a short barrel.

From information I have found and the last posts, it seems likely that it is a Turkish model.

Hi Hebel94,

Regarding numbers and letters,

Did you look for markings on the underside of the wooden grips?

Also, remove the barrel and look under barrel and in the receiver well.

You should wipe away dirt and grit. Use a strong light and a magnifying glass.

If you see pencil markings on the grips but can't quite make it out. Scan or take picture and then play with contrast, etc. It usually works.

Please let me know the outcome.

Thanks
May your collection grow and prosper.
