Hello fellow collectors. I recently purchased a Webley & Scott No 3 Mk 1 but notice the grips are very different than the grips I see in the google photos.
Mine are flater, brown and made of resin or nylon (?) and on both sides.
Can these be original to the WW2 period or are these post war additions?

Re: Webley & Scott No 3 Mk 1
Hello, grips and gripscrew most likely postwar replacements.
Guns have only two enemies, rust and politicians.
I am still looking for ANY information regarding the European Use of the Original Costons flares from 1859 through 1881. Photo's, Patents, contracts & orders, ANY INFORMATION IS NEEDED ! !

Re: Webley & Scott No 3 Mk 1
Thanks Signalman for the reply. Do you happen to know which Webley revolver the grips most closely resembles?
Looks like a set of resin (repro) Webley pistol grips is very inexpensive.
I did see a photo of this flare pistol with a wooden stock attached. The attaching method looked like a left hand grip (like my flat brown grip) but with a connecting feature leading to the wooden stock. I wouldn't be suprised if my current grip material is manufactured from these old stock attachments. The right hand grip (in the photo) was a normal Webley shaped grip panel.

Grips are similar to a Mark VI Webley revolver.
The shoulder stock you speak of was part of the No 1 Mk 1 flare pistol. There are reproductions of the stock from India showing up on the internet. The shoulder stock grip attachments are all metal, NO resin.

Re: Webley & Scott No 3 Mk 1
I can't say for certain as I don't have a No 3 Mk 1 to compare it to, but from the photos I also believe the grips for a Webley & Scott Mark VI revolver will work.
I do have a No 4 Mk 1* and its grips do indeed match those of my W&S Mk VI.
Hope this helps.
