I think Model M is the commercial designation Webley & Scott gave to this model of pistol after the war.

Here is my Singer Manufactured No4 Mk1 darted 1943 with the serial number 20352
It was deactivated in 2017.

It is marked in various places with SM including the hammer, trigger, under the grips, the barrel and the main housing bit.
