Molins No2 Mk5 1" signal Pistol

Post by ron3350 »

This pistol is wrongly called a No1 Mk5 on this forum.
This is the No2 Mk5 different nomenclature for the RAF and RAAF to launch a kite. Pistol was part of a survival rubber raft used by the RAF. It is a cheaper version of the No1 Mk5. Official name: Pistol, Signal 1-Inch No2 Mark 5. I am not sure what the kite was but it needed a barrel extension.
I show information and various pistols from my collection. The thin plastic grips broke and cracked so were replaced with aluminium grips.
This site is too quiet so I offer this correction and information.

The Danish replaced the plastic grips with pretty wood grips on both the No1 and No2 Mk 5's.

I will photo some in a few days and put it on the forum, unless someone beats me to it.
Guns have only two enemies, rust and politicians.

I am still looking for ANY information regarding the European Use of the Original Costons flares from 1859 through 1881. Photo's, Patents, contracts & orders, ANY INFORMATION IS NEEDED ! !
