Serbian 1929

Welcome to the forum, The Serbian 1929 is a favorite flare pistol of mine, I have two different versions I will post later.

very nice flare gun, congratulations! Is it for thin rimmed flares as well? Not the standard (german) 26,5mm?

I have tried a Wehrmacht Kal. 4 cartridge into the M 1929 and it fit´s well. I have never seen an original Yugoslavian signal cartridge from 1929, did they had a smaller rim configuration ?
The "AT3" is the early model that was produced till 1930 in the „Artiljrijsko Tehnički Zavod“ in the center of Serbia in Kragujevac. After 1930 the Model was marked with "BT3", which stands for "Војно Техницки Завод".
The estimated production rate for the МОДЕЛ 1929 is approximately 22.000 pieces.
I would be happy if I could see any yugoslavian signal cartridge that was produced in this time. Has anybody ever seen one ?

I have 2 different models I would call them, steel with long barrel and brass with short barrel. One of the main differences, apart from the material and lengh of barrel, ist the ammo. The steel takes the thin rimmed ammo like the french (and I had a look at several other steel versions, all thin rimed), and the brass takes the standard german Cal4 cartridge. No difference in diameter, but the rim is definately different.

when i got my m1929 i got a unmarked yellow cartrage that i assume is original to this, i shot it and it completly failed and just burned out in 1 meter distance. inside the cartrage there is this blue rubber thing that i assume contained phosphate and yellow paint.
and this is not a "serbian 1929" the kingdom of serbs croats and slovenes was officialy renamed into the kingdom of yugoslavia on 3. october 1929 but it was the same state and same order, just name diffrence. so this was desinged in the kingdom of serbs croats and slovenes and produced and used in the kingdom of yugoslavia and continiued to be used by JNA and its still in service in post-yugoslav countries. my friend caries one in Slovenian army and its not his personal thing he got it issiued.
these guns are ingenius and its desinged so the barrel aims aprox. 5° upward when in hand so when its shot the recoil doesent flip the gun but translates the recoil into the arm. the brass model is probably for the navy

On pages 250-254 it shows 3 case types in many signal colours and the history.
Brass, paper and alloy cases were made for the Yugoslavian pistols. See IAA or BOCN forums for ordering details. A good book in German.
