Seeking information about line-throwing pistols and rifles.

My research into military & civil documents plus a worldwide search of patents shows the following:

Through the 1800s and 1900s many efforts were made to create cannon, rifle and pistol
line-throwers. Numerous examples were produced but never caught on.

Regarding line-thower rifles and pistols does anyone have examples in their collections or information to share?

Should be some interesting and otherwise unknown pieces out there.
