Ammunition for International M2

Post by sullivanwb »

I inherited a WWII flare pistol, International Flare Signal Co., M2.
Are rounds for this gun available anywhere?
I have seen listings for reloadable 37mm shells but they all seem to have a lip at the base for use in breech loading units. Could these shells be safely modified to remove the lip and add a groove to engage the latch in the M2 pistol?

Thanks,

Hello,
If you loaded your own shells, it might be possible to modify the empty shell base. I think there might not be enough metal to allow the groove. I doubt anyone would say it is safe to modify the base of a live shell. Neat that is has some family connection to you. I would just enjoy it as an interesting heirloom. Was it a souvenir of someone's time in the military? Post some photo's, we would love to see it.

You could write the manufacturer of the shells, and see if he can make some reloadable shells for the M-2 and other front loading 37mm's.
Guns have only two enemies, rust and politicians.

I am still looking for ANY information regarding the European Use of the Original Costons flares from 1859 through 1881. Photo's, Patents, contracts & orders, ANY INFORMATION IS NEEDED ! !
