Re: Transformed Mod 1918 to fire over the trenches

This looks like it may have been used to fire flares out of Pillboxes or other enclosed areas - if so, the second picture would be the right firing position.

Re: Webley Grenade Pistol Conversions

This is a converted No 2 Mk 1. The original serial number on the frame has been crossed out and a new number stamped, also on the frame, trigger guard and cup. The extractor has a different number. The cup is marked TEC and 1944. Now some questions If the year on the cup is the year converted, were ...

Webley Grenade Pistol Conversions

Here are a couple of Webley 1 1/2" Flare Guns converted to Grenade Pistols. The first was a No 1 Mk 1, the 1 overstamped with a 2. A bit of the 1 can be seen below the foot of the 2 on the frame. The Model designation on the barrel was subsequently crossed out and Pistol Grenade 1 1/2" Mk ...

Re: Need help with this flare gun

The barrel decal reads 65 to 75 degrees.

I have a similiar Linethrower, rather than decals, it has a hand grip welded on top of the barrel at roughly 20 degrees. The bracket is stamped SCHERMULY'S over Patent No 503324 (not sure of the first 2 digits)

Re: Webley & Scott MKIII* Line Thrower

DRE13 - Thanks to you, I GOOGLED the patent number and found a copy of the original. The brass barrel has a large 266 stamped on the left side, maybe this is the refit serial number. You can make it out in the photo if you look real close. SIGNALMAN - The barrel lug is also stamped 1813, so you are ...

Acme Flare Gun

This Flare gun is shown in Gaynor's book with a brief description. I have been unable to find any other reference to it. Mine has a different trigger guard and no serial number. The only markings are a pair of slashes on the lower barrel lug and frame. Any information, such as where and when it was ...
