Molins No. 4 Mark 1

Post by somd_mustangs »

Just grabbed this off the broker of guns, more of a blind squirrel finding a nut kind of thing.
Poor pics probably contributed to a low price of $125.

I believe this is a true Mark 1, as it lacks the push-button safety of the Mark I* ?
Also is the MMCL/44 in a circle the Molins proof? (the pic is of the proof on the right side of trigger).
It appears in numerous places, as do crown proofs and broad arrows but no commercial release proofs.
Is the "44" indicative of 1944?

Only S/N I can find is on the trigger guard assembly.

The three screws (trigger pivot, hammer, and barrel latch) are staked on the threaded end.
Overall it seems to be in quite decent shape.

You are correct, It is a Mk IV #1. nice pickup.
Guns have only two enemies, rust and politicians.

I am still looking for ANY information regarding the European Use of the Original Costons flares from 1859 through 1881. Photo's, Patents, contracts & orders, ANY INFORMATION IS NEEDED ! !

Probably the inspector or examiners number. With a 4 digit serial number it would have been made before 1944.
