I think what is pictured is a Webley No 4 Mark 1*, the Molins has a Molins proof, and no Webley Address.

The Mark 1's have no push button safety near the break open latch, and are quite difficult to find. Either production was very limited, or most were converted to the Mark 1* which has the push button safety.
Guns have only two enemies, rust and politicians.

I am still looking for ANY information regarding the European Use of the Original Costons flares from 1859 through 1881. Photo's, Patents, contracts & orders, ANY INFORMATION IS NEEDED ! !

This is an Example of a Molins No.4 Mark 1 from my collection. You can see the lack of the safety button ( which if it had the button, would be a Mark 1* )

This example also has a low serial number for a British Flare Pistol in the 6xx's

Unfortunately the Molins proof was not struck good enough to photo on this pistol.

Hello, Yes, The Model M I believe is a postwar, possibly commercial, variation of the No 4 Mark 1*. I have a couple of these in my collection.

Richard Milner ( I am not sure of spelling ) in Great Britain, has many of the Webley Sales Ledgers that were not destroyed by a fire there. There are some ledgers showing flareguns and flaregun contracts listed.
