Italian Model 1900 Flare Pistol

Post by JoeW »

Here is my example of the Italian Model 1900 Flare Pistol. These were used by German personnel, especially the German combat police formations in Balkan combat areas.

This is my Italian Air Force Flare Pistol, Model 1900 variation 1927

I owned 3 of these over a 45 year span. Two are sold. All of them were manufactured by Beretta. Note the trigger is not the normal 1900 loop on this variation.

Guns have only two enemies, rust and politicians.

I am still looking for ANY information regarding the European Use of the Original Costons flares from 1859 through 1881. Photo's, Patents, contracts & orders, ANY INFORMATION IS NEEDED ! !

This example is Serial # 2. Both frame and barrel are numbered.

Take open button is flatter, not concave like on later examples.

Smooth Aluminum grips. Probably was finished in the white, it has a mostly grey patina now.

This is another "standard" mod. 1900.
Dated 1942 and both frame and barrel are stamped with serial# 60.

The 1942 dated number 60; The 60 is most likely the 60th example that year, or it is an assembly number. I know of no serial number list other than V. Christensen's whose information went to Dr. Baumgarten. Wolfgang Kern might have a copy of those records.
