This is listed on a website as "German signal pistol holster". Which was this for, the P2A, or LP2? Looks to be pretty current issue and would attach to the military web belt. No pictures of the back, but I suspect it uses the proprietary locking/attachment system common to current issue German web gear.

Just to update regarding post war flares pouch, for the leather sample as shown by 'Signalman', just notice that the flare containers are in black color.
The marking inside is:
M.d.J. III/58
Lieferer Nr. 1828 (same as above)
