Is anyone going to run the forum ??

I just realized that the forum needs someone to run it very soon. Weidman Bemelmans not only started, and ran the forum, but he also approved new members. It has been 3 weeks since we got a new member, and I am guessing that one or more collectors have tried to join in that time.

I am not very knowledgeable on web sites, so I would hope we could get a volunteer to talk to Weidmans family, and the Web Hosting site so someone would be in charge.

Anybody else have any suggestions ??

Hi,
If nobody wants the job I can try managing this forum from a technical point of view (administration, accounts validation, setting up rubrics, UI aso).
But I really feel uncomfortable getting in touch with Weidmans family as I didn't know him personally and don't speak his native language ... so if anybody else can 'manage' this part.
Sorry for not taking all the tasks on my shoulders.

I for one would give my blessings if Bruno took over the forum, If anybody else would like to be in charge, or has any input, please speak up.

I would not know how to approach the family, plus I am in the USA. If someone who new him or Weidmans family could ask if we can continue the forum in his memory, I am sure we would all be grateful.

Does anybody else have any suggestions, We should do something so the forum can continue, and so we can start accepting new members again.

A friend of mine have contacted the provider with the request to take actions to save the data form FlareGunForum.com
Asked the provider when the family of mr. Bemelmans close the contract, he will ask the family what should
be done with the domain and data.

That is very good, However, we still need somebody to approve new memberships.

We have not had a new member approved in almost a month ( and we were averaging 6 or more members a month before that ).

Well that is a minor thing right now. We need the password to his Admin account in order to approve new members.

Tenzij de erfgenamen een ondertekende brief met de akte meesturen waarin zij verklaren wie zij machtigen de domeinnamen over te nemen. De domeinnamen die overgenomen mogen worden moeten duidelijk vermeld worden en de erfgenamen dienen de brief te ondertekenen.

In short someone has to write a letter to his parents (he died 31 years old) at the below address and ask if they will hand over the domain and forum + the database.

His parents then have to write a letter that confirm [insert name here] may have or can buy the the domain.
After that, this person can contact the provider at support@mijndomein.nl where everything is hosted and he will be the new right full owner.

Hello members of the Flaregun forum,

I am Thomas Bemelmans, Weidman' younger brother. (please also see the post in the Weidman deceased post). Weidman infected me with the flare gun virus :)

Weidman talked a lot with me about flare guns and his flare gun collection, but also about this forum. I knew of its existence and have transferred all the condoleances to my parents when they were posted. I was very touched to see that he created something that inspired and gathered so many flare gun enthousiasts from all over the world. And I would like to say to you: I will not disappear!!

So, with that said (and you hopefully reassured), I will explain:
When I saw all the condoleances I realised that this forum could not stop now. It has to continue to bring people with this passion together and be a format for discussions and sharing images (he would have wanted nothing less).
But, as I did not know his passwords I could not log in as Weidman, but more importantly, could also not create an account for myself. Luckily I found this password, and also the password to his email, so I could approve my own account (and also that of 5 new applications, who had been waiting, as you expected). So my apologies for the delay, but that issue has been fixed.
I have found an invoice that stated that the domain rights have been paid until May 2013. After this, I will pay the costs for this forum for as long as it is active, to make sure it never disappears.

Thank you for starting the discussion about who should lead this forum. That makes it also a lot easier for me. I would like to be one of the moderators, but since I am also very busy with my studies (also medicine), it would be convenient to have at least one more. Do you all agree that I make BrunoH also moderator?
We will then both get the emails for account activation, so nobody will have to wait long.
I have to learn a little bit about website building (security updates, backup etc etc), but I have seen Weidman do it a couple of times, so I think that will be okay. (but if somebody on this forum knows a lot about it, any info/help is welcome).
