They look the same of the cartridges of wwI. Do they have the same messures?
Is it possible that the green one a little bit is blowing up? Two nice cartridges!!!!

These cartridges are of a box for classes in the postwar period. This showed the children of what they need to stay away!

Speaking of blowing up, What is the best way to display cartridges so they do not absorb moisture and blow up?

Does anybody coat the cartridge with something to keep out moisture?

I have lost a good number of cartridges to moisture over the years, which is one reason I do not actively collect them.

Several years ago, I have seen that a collector has wrapped his ammunition into plastic foil to prevent them for getting wet and blowing up.
I don´t know wether this procedure helps or not, but some of my rare specimens I have also put into an evacuated clear plastic foil bag, from which the air was sucked out by a simple "kitchen vaccum system for food" and afterwards the bag was sealed air-dense by this machine.
All specimens are in well condition since 2 years. I really have no idea, wether this will help or not, but it maybe could prevent the powder for hygroscopical decomposition. In my eyes its a try worth if you have cartridges that are very rare. I give no guarantee that this idea helps.

Vacuum packed. That sounds like a real good idea, especially for rare cartridges !

I have had quite a number of cartridges go bad over the years, so I will definitely be trying this idea out.
