UNIDENTIFIED (WWI??) Flare gun (odd looking)

Would anybody have any idea of this odd looking flare gun? Might be French..

French M18, grips are replaced. M18 means WW1, 1918.

YEs, grip replaced.

I gave a look to the French flares in the forum but I missed the model.

Look on the butt of the pistol to see if there are any makers marks.
Guns have only two enemies, rust and politicians.


I am still looking for ANY information regarding the European Use of the Original Costons flares from 1859 through 1881. Photo's, Patents, contracts & orders, ANY INFORMATION IS NEEDED ! !
