I bought a German Weber flare gun of 1914.
The serial number is G173, an early number I believe.
It looks really great and original.
Does anybody have some more information about this gun?

Re: German Weber Flare Gun 1914
There were approximately 10,500 of these manufactured by 4 different companies. Is there a makers mark on the butt of the pistol ? ?
Makers are AW.W, St. & B, T.& S., and W.K.
Good Collecting, Signalman

Guns have only two enemies, rust and politicians.
I am still looking for ANY information regarding the European Use of the Original Costons flares from 1859 through 1881. Photo's, Patents, contracts & orders, ANY INFORMATION IS NEEDED ! !

On the butt of the pistol is written : St. & B 14 so it's made by Stantien & Becker at Lübeck, I believe.
Is this the 173rd pistol they made as it has serial number 173?

I am not sure, but I assume it is the 173rd pistol made by that manufacturer, The makers code could stand for Stegmann & Bussau in Hamburg according to Wolfgangs book. 8,000 made by that manufacturer.
