I recently found a vet grouping form an estate with the papers and most of the items on the papers.
The Flare Gun was an ayf ZINK 4 with a holster that had the belt loops cut by a knife, I think we know what that means? The holster is in bad condition but I think taken of a soldier who didn't need it anymore.
A rare Mauser HSc with the large eagle and test proof with the nice holster was included as well as a set of binoculars and K98 cleaning kit. The vet's son told me the hat that was listed on the papers was eaten by moths and thrown out years ago.
It also came with all of his medals and I got a "hit" with the National Archives for his enlistment records.
It appears he was part of the Normandy Invasion and has 5 stars for battles in Europe he was part of.
He was promoted to Sargent during the war and the history of this vet needs more work.
So here is the Flare Gun and a photo of all the items I got from the vets estate. He was also a religious man with the Crosses that may have given him the Faith to survive.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone and please remember our proud vets who served in WWII.

Mark,
Another fine grouping to add to your collection. Thanks for the share.
If you send me the name I'll try to find info on him at Fold3.
Thanks,

His name was John Miklos 33369108
On his enlistment records I have the box number 0649 and film reel number 1.166.
Trying to see if I can get more info without actually going to the archives to see his complete record. Any help would be appreciated.

Very nice Group, congratulations!
As for the Holster, there is more than only the Loops that was cut off. Missing the small Loop for Holding the cleaning rod, and the bottom part was cut as well where the rod is Held in place. As you say, conditionwise no good, but as a set superb, with the papers and the history to it!

Nice grouping Mark! I have a AC 43 Zink.
Can you share any details on the RG34 cleaning kit? I have a casual interest and own a few. Could you share a picture of the contents and markings?

The cleaning kit is stamped cnx in the metal, never used, and everything is there. I didn't unpack it as it is "as issued" and I didn't want to mess the contents up.
